With a comfortable bed, we managed to sleep in until 7am (we are usually on the road by then). After feasting on cakes and biscuits at a patisserie, we left town on the main highway to Trinidad. We somehow managed to miss the road that we wanted to take and ended up on a little used well maintained road through the foothills of the mountain range. Although the first part was painful, the whole journey was amazingly pretty and quiet. The people were friendly and the going got easier as we approached the sea and the coastal road into Trinidad. Bought some fantastic fudge on the side of the road for £1 for 8 fairly large slabs. Slept the night in the tent on the side of a river far from the main road.
