The noise bleeping on the nearby blind corner kicked us out of the tent. Without darkness we spotted a lovely bay down in the valley - not bad. We even got to use the Wat’s toilet facilities. In pure desperation for a coffee, we cycled few minutes on a difficult steep road until a lovely café shone out. Half an hour later with a bit more knowledge about the island from the owner, we headed for main beach across a mountainous pass – Teresa had to push the fully loaded bike uphill for about 2kms with sweat pouring down from her bike helmet while cars, trucks and motorbikes also struggled with the steepness. Tadek waited patiently with some hard earned ice creams in the White Sands Beach tourist resort in a full swing. Cycled past the busy part creating a lot of funny looks.
As the road was starting to climb again, we arrived at the sign pointing to a coconut plantation and to some lovely bungalows on the beach front. What a picture postcard location, private beach, coconut palms, neatly cut lawn, a great breeze and even chirping colourful birds for good measure. We paid for it ASAP and relaxed after a great shower on a loose pebbled bathroom floor.
Lunch on the sea side in the nearby town, swim in the sea, skype calls home, drinks, the usual things people do when bored doing not much on the beach. Tadek felt that there had not been enough exercise, so tried a little jogging on the beach in readiness for losing his wheels on the barges.
Cycled back to the private bungalow to enjoy the sunset and some snacks.
Cycled about 12km (buhahaha) not enough to burn off even one beer.
