I think I feel a bit better but not much; fever and painful throat at its best. Never mind, chefs don’t cry, I just have to get on with it… 77km on a reasonably easy road, passing some little beach towns with lots of funky adverts. I could feel the surf vibe coming up… Stopped at the petrol station just before Jaco and met couple of local fast cyclists on their top spec carbon bikes. Quick chat and some salty crisps topped with water and back on the road. 6 litres of water after departure I arrived in Jaco! Oh boy! It was heaving with people; like Briton on a summer weekend or Leba (Poland) during the summer holidays. Found a hostel for 12 us dollars, the landlord was from Texas running his son’s dream business (after his departure when he got bored of surfing). The old boy was partly blind so it was very nice to talk to him a bit longer. He said I was the first “Pole” in his place, and then some more about lack of tourists??? (His guest house was not in any guide book). The town had a party but I could not understand what it was all about and was still feeling crap , I just dreamt about the taste of cold beer. I don’t think this is normal flu, but I am going to beat the beast!
Surfers and surfing equipment everywhere, clothes , random snacks, good restaurants ,“mucho alcohol” and music. Very chilled out, not feeling strange in scabby clothes. Another head of garlic followed with some normal dinner and more water.
Fireworks lit the sky (big venue)
Total clocked on journey (approx. considering sigma mood swings) 2826km.
The big day coming up, Teresa is back tomorrow and I think we will head north ! Alajuela I am coming back! Hopefully we will find Gustavo and visit the restaurant team!
