Coffee peanut butter tortillas, stocked up on water, bananas and biscuits. Gone by 8.30 am. Nice tarmac surface for 26 km then a coffee and plantain break after which we entered the gravel road towards “Cano Negro”. Passed a pineapple distribution centre (got a couple – really tasty!). The whole region is infested with birds. Hitchcock’s birds flying everywhere. Got to our destination with my brains shaken out of my scull . Sat down for a cool down beer and spotted lots of birds and parrots. Heading for the national park we got offered a boat ride (rejected). Cycled around to find some info. Finally, decision got made and we took a private boat ride for an hour down the river in to the national park. What an experience! We have never seen so much wild life at any other national park on this planet! SHOCKING! Birds everywhere, cayman, alligators, monkeys, iguanas etc. Finished with celebratory drink with Antonio (our guide). What a place!!! The least busy area with tourists and the most saturated with animals! Difficult to navigate yourself , lack of information or basic tourist things, but wildlife overload instead. I`m sure anyone can handle that! Not sure if I want to leave the paradise tomorrow (there are no mosquitos here as well !). Stayed until the bell at the bar and put the tent up next to the national park entry (between two lakes).
