Breakfast on the lake of French fries and fried eggs – the closest to the western food that we’ve had so far. We discussed plans and was told that my chain should have been replaced about 1000 km ago. Well, it has to wait till Bangkok now. We waved goodbye and headed on; they had to change the rim on a wheel. We couldn`t hang around, plus out of experience its easier cycle in smaller groups.
Another hot day. No mercy, but we cracked short distances, allowing our bodies to recover.
A lot of jobs/tasks people where doing on the side of the road where just shocking. Wooden structural beams production is done one buy one with the hand saw and a plainer! Concrete pillars, the base of 90% of newer houses here, are produced a few each day with the cement is being mixed with the spade? I have seen few cement mixers but they are by no means common yet.
In juxtaposition, we see a large number of flash cars haring past us suggesting that money and prosperity has arrived already. It’s a shame that these guys don’t have access to good machinery to make their life easier…. Or more complicated? Who knows? Very often simplicity is the way forward.
We arrived in Seno just when it started to cool down. Pushing on in the cooler part of the day we did another 23km and found lovely guest house run by pair of retards. Luckily, we were allowed to pay in dollars (we’d run very low on local currency and forgot about the weekend - no banks open). Nobody gave us the key and they were funny about giving them to us full stop? On top of that, the lady of the couple peered into the room when we had kept the door slightly open to cool the place down. Then she shut our door and scuttled off. Very strange! Lovely night’s sleep though.
